Can you see the signs?

With the likes of George Bush, Dick Cheney, Adam Putnam and John McCain, the access to information is nearly endless (until the government controls that too.) So when some one refers to our freedoms here in America, it is hard not to think on where we have been and where we are now going.

Under the direction of the lead pid piper Karl Rove, many Republicans in Congress have willfully been led into a facisit state of mind. What motivation do these men (and women) actually have outside of doing what is best for the citizens of the states they serve? It is a damn shame that these people, yes these people, actually are being elected based on the theory of "rally under the flag."

We are all proud citizens here in America. We love our country and the values it stands upon. However, we also feel that there has been a duping of Americans under this faux threat, that Iraq has Weapons of Mass Destruction, and we must "smoke 'em out."

We are sick and tired of this path that Bush, Cheney, Rove, McCain, Rove and Putnam have led us on. We have moved from a prosperous country to that of one that fears our government. From a country that empowers our workers at home to that of a country which is willing to ship jobs overseas in order to make that extra dollar. From a country that values our relationships in the world to one that is willing to go on a wild goose chase in order to not even get our "original target."

Might is not right. Duh.

Nelson Slams Backsliders On Gulf Drilling Ban

The Ledger gets it... Nelson gets it... When will Putnam get it?
(from theLedger.com)

U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson continued his attack today on the turn around of President Bush and even Gov. Charlie Crist, who he believes are using high gas prices as leverage to allow drilling in protected areas of the Gulf.

Nelson's Communications Director Dan McLaughlin released excerpts from a year-end report by the Energy Information Administration, an independent agency within the U.S. Department of Energy, which implies that more drilling will not have an effect on oil prices or even supply in the near future.

One of two segments that Nelson's staff underlined in the report states:

"The projections in the OCS access case indicate that access to the Pacific, Atlantic, and eastern Gulf regions would not have a significant impact on domestic crude oil and natural gas production or prices before 2030."

Hmmm. Well just dig me up.

Another analytical statement that was underlined in the report certainly would not have been quoted by the proponents of increased drilling who are looking for support among the lemmings:

"Because oil prices are determined on the international market, however, any impact on average wellhead prices is expected to be insignificant.''

Nelson has said he is concerned that the high gas prices --- which some commodity analysts and oil industry experts say is driven by speculation, not market value --- will cause drilling in protected areas.

The True Heart of Florida

To some, the most important organ in a body is the brain. The brain controls all of your functions, thoughts, and actions taken. With thought, it is able to produce reason and allows us to communicate in an educated manner; essentially, the brain is central to all of our actions. However, with out the heart, none of that would be possible. The heart provides the blood through the various arteries to and from the brain. This gives life to what is considered the "most important" organ.

The same is true about Florida. From Tampa to Daytona and every county in between, we are the ones who give a voice to those representatives in our Congress, our nations central nervous system. When we are not respected , as is the current case, it becomes the duty of the residents to take action. Representative Putnam and Representative Bilirakis have continually defied the wishes of their constituents, and in doing so, have successfully endangered our state's well being.

It is a shame to continually see these men doing what they can to clog up Florida's main artery. They are not representatives of the people; instead, these two men are to the equivalent of built-up plaque on the walls of our veins, acting in the manner of trustees to a state that owes them nothing. Putnam and Bilirakis are in Washington D.C. along for the ride and scooping up every possible benefit along the way.

If they choose to vote against the wishes of our friends, our neighbors and our family, then we should choose to find some one else that will represent our wishes and wants. Here's to a change in '08!

Floridians Get It, Adam.

Floridians get it, Adam. We are a state that lives off of the tourism industry and the nearly 2,300 miles of shore lines Florida has to offer. Tourism concerning our shore line stretches from the Spring Break Centers of Pensacola, Daytona and Miami beaches to the pristine waters of the Keys. Our clean coast line is vital to the success of our largest industry in the state.

Floridians get it, Adam. The Everglades has undergone a massive restoration under the direction of three state governors, numerous other legislators at the state and national level, as well as many other conservation groups. They have championed preserving a world wide ecosystem that is home to numerous of endangered species and many more creatures yet to be discovered. They fought hard for this bill because it is what the people wanted.

Floridians get it, Adam. On June 18th, President Bush along side Sen. McCain and Gov. Charlie Christ have come out publicly for off shore drilling of oil along the coast of Florida. Have no mistake Adam, that if you are to represent Florida's best interest, you will not endorse such a program. The waterways of Florida attract billions of dollars in tourism to our great state. By supporting such measures would be equal to that of allowing cigarettes to be sold to middle school students; you just wouldn't promote that, would ya Adam?

The 18,000,000+ citizens in the state of Florida benefited from the Water Resources Development Act, that you voted against Adam. Why did you feel it was necessary to vote against Florida's tourism and shipping industry? How would you rationalize such a decision to any one of these industries in your districts that counts on the improvements and upkeep of a major resource?

By my account, and literacy skills, the tourism industry has an economic impact of nearly $65.5 Billion dollars to the state of Florida; nearly $4 Billion of that was generated state taxes last year alone. Are you willing to risk a profitable income of the state, more so are you really willing to risk one of the great treasures of Florida in order to line the pocket books of the oil barons?

On the books, you have a near perfect voting record with that of President Bush and his administrations current wants; should it then be expected to see production of oil rigs out in the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean?

For being Florida's "Favorite Son," you sure have done some stupid things.
