Floridians get it, Adam. The Everglades has undergone a massive restoration under the direction of three state governors, numerous other legislators at the state and national level, as well as many other conservation groups. They have championed preserving a world wide ecosystem that is home to numerous of endangered species and many more creatures yet to be discovered. They fought hard for this bill because it is what the people wanted.

Floridians get it, Adam. On June 18th, President Bush along side Sen. McCain and Gov. Charlie Christ have come out publicly for off shore drilling of oil along the coast of Florida. Have no mistake Adam, that if you are to represent Florida's best interest, you will not endorse such a program. The waterways of Florida attract billions of dollars in tourism to our great state. By supporting such measures would be equal to that of allowing cigarettes to be sold to middle school students; you just wouldn't promote that, would ya Adam?
The 18,000,000+ citizens in the state of Florida benefited from the Water Resources Development Act, that you voted against Adam. Why did you feel it was necessary to vote against Florida's tourism and shipping industry? How would you rationalize such a decision to any one of these industries in your districts that counts on the improvements and upkeep of a major resource?
By my account, and literacy skills, the tourism industry has an economic impact of nearly $65.5 Billion dollars to the state of Florida; nearly $4 Billion of that was generated state taxes last year alone. Are you willing to risk a profitable income of the state, more so are you really willing to risk one of the great treasures of Florida in order to line the pocket books of the oil barons?
On the books, you have a near perfect voting record with that of President Bush and his administrations current wants; should it then be expected to see production of oil rigs out in the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean?
For being Florida's "Favorite Son," you sure have done some stupid things.
